Swimmingly Part II

Abby is doing so well at swimming! After she swam by herself in class on Thursday, something "clicked" and she's been swimming ever since!

Waiting for class to start with Lilly

Getting their hair wet

She was going under all by herself!

Still working on jumping, but getting better!

Whee!

:)

Swimming across the pool all by herself

Face in the water and all

More jumping

Jumping and swimming

Doing so well!

All the way across!

Date Night!

Abby and I got to go on a date this weekend!

This is one of my favorite new places this summer. I think Abby was a little overwhelmed by all the choices, lol, but finally picked plain chocolate with a small sprinkle of jelly candies.

Needless to say, it was the perfect way to cool off after a hot day!

Everything's Going Swimmingly...

Abby swam across the pool by herself today - no floaties, armies, or even a paddleboard! I was so proud of her I almost cried!

This was the last day of our first week of swim class; we have one week left. The teacher, Ashley, really pushes the kids, and to be honest I wasn't sure this was going to jive very well with Abby, but they get along really well and she's come so far in only one week! I can't wait to see how much she learns before classes are over. :)

Get Well Soon!

Grandad went up to the hospital to have a pacemaker put in, so Abby made a card for him when he comes home!

We made a handprint crab on front...

... then Abby wrote her own name for the inside! :) Isn't she doing great?

Star Wars

On Saturday, Maggie and I stopped in to visit Abigail, and while we were there, Chris found Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi on TV. Abigail immediately exclaimed "Star Wars is SCARY!" After I told her that Star Wars was my absolute favorite movie ever, she was at least curious, and after a few minutes of watching, she was hooked so much that during the commercial breaks she'd beg Chris to turn Star Wars back on. :)

As has been well documented before, watching Star Wars with a little one is always hilarious!

Quotes from the evening:

Abby: "I like the golden guy - what's his name, again?"
Me: "C-3PO."
Abby: "Right. I like him. And what's his little friend's name?"
Me: "R2-D2."
Abby: "Right. I like them."

(When the emperor comes on screen for the first time)
Abby: "That mean guy looks JUST LIKE the EVIL mean witch who gave Snow White the poisoned apple - I'll be they're the SAME!"

Abby: "I do NOT like that big guy. What's his name?"
Me: "Jabba."
Abby: "I do NOT like Jabba. He's mean. Is he gonna die?"
Me: "... yes."
Abby: "He's gonna die? He is? MOMMY! *excited/happy* Jabba IS gonna die! YAY!"

Abby: "Wow... Yoda is SO GREEEEN."

(Part where Leia, in disguise, creeps across Jabba's palace to unfreeze Han)
Me: "Princess Leia is going to rescue Han and unfreeze him so that they can be together again. Because they love each other."
Abby: "Aw, that is SO NICE."

(The part just before Luke does a flip off the plank)
Me: "Watch, Abby, Luke is gonna do a flip!"
Abby: "He must go to gymnastics just like me!"

(When she sees Admiral Ackbar for the first time)
Abby: "I don't like him. He looks weird."
Me: "He's a nice guy, he just looks like that because he lives in the water. Like a frog or an octopus."
Abby: "I don't want him to nibble me."
Me: "Haha, he won't nibble on you. He's nice."
Abby: "I don't want him to eat my stuffed animals, either."
Me: "... ? He won't eat your stuffed animals. He's nice."
Abby: "He LOOKS like he wants to eat my stuffed animals!"

First Pedicure

Abby's little cousin Lilly has had her nails painted since she was teensy, and Abby's always been interested. She's want her nails painted, and I kept telling her "We'll ask your mommy!", and I kept forgetting (and so would she, until we saw Lilly again lol). When I found a good salon this spring and started wearing my own nails painted, Abby was very interested, and one day we finally remembered to ask Mommy, who said yes. :)

Cute little toes "before" :)

I asked her what she had in mind and she said she wanted pink and "very, very sparkly." Luckily I had some ballet-slipper-pink and some glitter topcoat.

She was very excited about the whole process, and kept telling everyone who came in the room "Don't touch my toes - they're drying!!!"

The pink sparkly results. :)

She loved it! Daddy told me the next day that she almost refused to get in the water at the lake because she was afraid the polish would wash off.

The next week, Abby wanted an update, so she and Mama went nail polish shopping, where Abby picked out sparkly pink polish and blue polish.

This time she not only got her toes painted, but her fingers, too!
